Witness the heartfelt union of Butch and Marilyn as they exchange vows inside Baguio City Jail, making history as the facility's first-ever wedding, a celebration of commitment and resilience.

In the heart of Baguio City, love knows no bounds, not even the confines of jail bars. The extraordinary tale of Butch and Marilyn unfolds within the walls of the Baguio City Jail Male Dormitory, where they exchanged vows on January 18, 2024.

A Love Tested by Circumstances

Their love story took an unexpected turn when Butch found himself behind bars in September 2022 due to a criminal case. Despite the challenges of incarceration, the couple's determination to spend their lives together outweighed their present circumstances.

Living together before Butch's arrest, their separation only fueled their commitment to making their union official. Their journey towards marriage commenced, navigating the intricate web of legalities within the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Cordillera.

Over a span of five months, Butch and Marilyn, with the assistance of BJMP Cordillera and other supportive agencies, diligently completed the necessary documents. This period highlights the bureaucratic challenges faced by couples seeking matrimony within the constraints of a correctional facility.

An Unforgettable Ceremony Behind Bars

The much-anticipated day arrived on Thursday, as the Baguio City Jail Male Dormitory witnessed its first-ever wedding ceremony. Officiated by BJMP - Cordillera Regional Chaplain, Rev. Fr. JSinsp Jan Vincent Damian, and Rev. Fr. German Ledesma, the ceremony marked a historic moment for the city jail.

Community Support in Action

Acknowledging the significance of this unique event, Jail Warden JSupt. April Rose Ayangwa extended her best wishes to the newlyweds. Her gratitude also encompassed the service providers who played a pivotal role in bringing Marilyn and Butch's dream wedding to fruition.

Love Knows No Bars

Marilyn and Butch's love, now formally sealed in marriage, stands as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. The inclusion of an 11-month-old child in their story adds depth to their commitment and the challenges they face as a family.

Embracing History and Love's Triumph

In marrying inside the Baguio City Jail Male Dormitory, Butch and Marilyn have not only overcome legal hurdles but have also etched their names in the facility's history. This extraordinary event showcases the intersection of love, bureaucracy, and community support, proving that love can indeed transcend the confines of even the most challenging circumstances. As they embark on this new chapter, Butch and Marilyn's love serves as a beacon of hope, reminding us all that love knows no bars.
