Igorot boxing promoter Brico Langbay Santig was honored at the World Boxing Council (WBC) - Asian Boxing Council (ABC) Conference held from March 14 to 16, 2020, in Bangkok, Thailand. Santig received the 2019 'South East Asia Promoter of the Year' award, a prestigious accolade recognizing his exceptional contributions to boxing and Muay Thai.

Award Presentation Details

In a letter sent to Santig, the WBC Asian Boxing Council conveyed their pleasure in the following words:

"WBC Asian Boxing Council is most pleased to inform you that you have been selected to receive the 2019 'South East Asia Promoter of the Year' award. The awards presentation will be held during the Gala Dinner night, on March 14 - 17, 7 PM - 10 PM, at the Athenee Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand."

Santig's Contributions to Boxing

Santig, who owned Highland Boxing Promotions based in La Trinidad, Benguet, played a crucial role in the training and promotion of numerous boxing veterans and champions. His influence extended beyond the Philippines, with additional boxing gyms located in Manila and Bangkok, where his family resided.

In addition to this recent honor, Santig had previously been recognized with the 2019 Boxing Promoter of the Year award at the Kafagway/Kordillera International Sports Luminary Awards. Highland Boxing Promotions was also named Best Boxing Promotion in the Philippines in 2019 by BoxRec, further solidifying Santig's reputation in the boxing world.
