Islay Erika Bomogao wins her ONE Championship debut on her 24th birthday at Lumpinee Stadium, proving her skills in a 100-pound catchweight Muay Thai bout.

Islay Erika Bomogao made a remarkable debut in ONE Championship on November 8, 2024, earning a victory in her 100-pound catchweight Muay Thai bout at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The win, which came by unanimous decision after three intense 3-minute rounds against Japan's Fuu, was made even more special as it coincided with her 24th birthday. Bomogao, an Igorot from the Philippines, celebrated both her birthday and the realization of a long-held dream in her first professional Muay Thai fight.

A Dream Come True at Lumpinee Stadium

For Bomogao, fighting at the legendary Lumpinee Stadium was a goal she had set years ago. During a training camp with the Philippine National Team in 2018, she witnessed one of her teammates fight at the iconic venue. Inspired by the experience, she vowed to follow in their footsteps.

"I told myself back then, 'One day, I'm going to compete here too,'" she recalled.

On November 8, she did just that. The victory, which was a unanimous decision after three hard-fought rounds, was a momentous milestone in her career. Not only did she achieve her dream of fighting at Lumpinee, but the win also made her birthday all the more memorable. Representing Team Bagsik, a gym known for producing well-rounded fighters, Bomogao showed the results of her dedicated training and hard work.

As an Igorot, Bomogao carries the strength and perseverance that defines her heritage, and her victory served as a testament to her cultural roots and the discipline she has developed as an athlete.

Adjusting to the Pro Stage

Bomogao's transition from amateur to professional Muay Thai was not without challenges. Although she was an accomplished amateur fighter, stepping into the professional arena required a series of adjustments, particularly when it came to the use of 4-ounce MMA gloves, which differ from traditional Muay Thai gloves.

"I've been working hard to get used to the 4-ounce gloves," she explained. "I've also been sparring without headgear to adjust. It's all about pushing myself and getting out of my comfort zone."

Bomogao's hard work in adapting to these new elements paid off during her debut. Despite the challenges, she remained focused and performed confidently, earning her victory and demonstrating that she was more than ready for the professional stage.

A Mindset Built on Confidence and Manifestation

Bomogao's success can also be attributed to her positive mindset and belief in the power of manifestation. For years, she visualized herself fighting at Lumpinee and achieving success in ONE Championship. When the opportunity finally came, she fully embraced it.

"I've always believed in manifesting my goals," Bomogao said. "I knew this moment would come. I've been working on my hands, and I'm aiming for a knockout. I'm just excited to be here and start this journey."

Her victory wasn't just a win in the ring-it was a personal confirmation of the hard work and confidence she has invested in her career.

What's Next for Islay Erika Bomogao?

Bomogao's victory at Lumpinee Stadium is just the beginning of her professional journey in ONE Championship. This win proved that she has the skills, determination, and mental toughness to compete at the highest level of Muay Thai. With her strong debut, Bomogao is now poised for greater challenges and opportunities within the promotion.

The training and guidance she has received from Team Bagsik have clearly shaped her into a fighter capable of competing with the best. Bomogao's success is a reflection of the high standards of preparation at the gym, which focuses on both physical and mental development.

With the support of her fans and her determination to succeed, Bomogao is set to make an even bigger impact in the world of Muay Thai. Her debut win is just the first step in what promises to be an exciting and successful career.

As an Igorot, she brings the strength of her heritage into every fight, and her win at Lumpinee Stadium on her birthday makes it all the more special.
