On January 17, 2023, 19 Kalinga warriors proudly celebrated their graduation from the Philippine Army's prestigious Scout Ranger Course. The ceremony was held at Camp Tecson in San Miguel, Bulacan, where these warriors received their "Tabak" Badge, marking their successful completion of the intensive training program.

Breaking Down the Graduates

Among the 164 members of Scout Ranger Course Class 218-22, the Kalinga warriors stood out for their diverse composition. This group includes three enlisted personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), 15 army enlisted members, and one military officer. Their presence underscores the wide-reaching appeal and rigorous nature of the Scout Ranger training.

The Training Regimen

The 10-month Scout Ranger Course is crafted to challenge participants to their limits, focusing on enhancing combat skills and mental resilience. The course encompasses a variety of critical areas including jungle warfare, close quarter combat, urban warfare, and counter-terrorism operations. It demands extraordinary physical strength, agility, and mental toughness, preparing warriors for the most demanding conditions they may face in the field.

Scout Rangers in Action

Known by their nickname "Musang," Scout Rangers have a distinguished record of involvement in significant military operations. Their expertise has been crucial in major situations such as the ongoing communist insurgency, the 2013 Zamboanga siege, and the 2017 Marawi crisis. Their training equips them to navigate complex and challenging scenarios with precision and effectiveness.

Words of Challenge and Expectation

At the graduation ceremony, Brig. Gen. Jesus P. Durante III, commander of the 1001st Infantry Brigade, addressed the new graduates. He encouraged them to apply the skills, stamina, and spirit they have developed during their training. Brig. Gen. Durante emphasized the importance of translating their combat excellence and discipline into real-world scenarios.
