In the mist-kissed highlands of Lengaoan, Buguias, Benguet, within the heart of the Igorot community in the Cordillera region, a remarkable legacy of service and excellence unfolds, crafted by the Marapao family. Retired AFP Sergeant Edgar Marapao, originally from Mindanao, and Mrs. Helen Buansi, became the architects of a story that resonated through the hallowed halls of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).
Roots in the Highlands
The Marapao siblings, Eda Glis Buansi Marapao and Glyn Elinor Buansi Marapao, drew strength from their familial ties in Buguias. Their father, Edgar, a retired sergeant, instilled values of discipline and commitment.
Eda Glis - Paving the Way
Eda Glis Buansi Marapao, born of this union, embarked on a journey that defied expectations. Topping her elementary class and graduating as the salutatorian from Benguet State University, she showcased early signs of exceptionalism. Fate led her from the conventional path of Civil Engineering to the challenges of the Philippine Military Academy in 2012.
Glyn Elinor - Carrying the Torch
Inspired by Eda Glis's brilliance, Glyn Elinor Buansi Marapao, the younger sibling, entered the PMA in 2019. Guided by her father's military legacy, she overcame plebeian challenges, securing the eighth position in the MABALASIK Class of 2019 at the age of 22.
A Proud Family Legacy
Edgar Marapao, the retired AFP sergeant, and Mrs. Helen Buansi reveled in the achievements of both daughters. With Eda Glis securing the third position in the PMA SALAKNIB Class of 2016 and Glyn Elinor earning her spot in the Top 10 of the MABALASIK Class of 2019, Buguias, Benguet, resonated with pride.
A Silent Presence
Amidst the triumphs of Eda Glis and Glyn Elinor, a silent presence lingers in the Marapao family narrative. Ens. Brigs Briant Buansi Marapao PN, their brother, is a top student and graduate of PMA "MASALIGAN" Class of 2021. Additionally, he graduated from the Alegions Class of 2021 with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering from the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific.
