During the Zamboanga Siege in 2013, then serving with the PNP's elite Special Action Force (SAF), he had to lead his men into battle with a heavy heart after getting word that his cousin and fellow SAF trooper Lawin Salisa got killed in action. The men who served with Tait during those long, dark days of the siege would attest they would not have made it through if not for the leadership of the man they were following.
