Secures Triple Bronze in Malaysia Fencing Competition

Qody Omengan at Wisma OCM Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Meet Qody Omengan, a 12-year-old sabre fencer from Manila who's making waves in the world of fencing with his extraordinary talent and unwavering Igorot pride. Raised in the bustling city, Qody's roots run deep into the rich traditions of the Igorot and Kalinga communities.

Despite his young age, Qody's sabre fencing skills shone brightly at the Malaysia Fencing Federation Competition on December 5, 2023, where he clinched an impressive triple bronze. The youthfulness of Manila, coupled with the cultural strength of Igorot heritage, created a unique fusion that set him apart on the international stage.

This journey was not a solo effort. Behind every parry and thrust stood dedicated coaches from Republic Fencing, especially Coach Alvin and Coach Nicole. Their guidance and expertise sculpted Qody's raw talent into a formidable force, blending Manila's dynamism with the cultural strength of the Igorot and Kalinga traditions.

Qody Omengan serves as an inspiration to young athletes, proving that age is no barrier when passion, dedication, and cultural pride lead the way.

As he continues to navigate the exciting path ahead, we eagerly await the next chapters of his journey. For this 12-year-old sabre sensation, the road ahead may be long, but with the prowess he's already displayed and the steadfast support of his coaches. Agyamanak.
