Marie Carolyn Budong Verano, Career Executive Service Officer V, was recognized by The Salceda Youth Lead as one of the Ten Most Inspiring Teachers of the Republic of the Philippines for 2020.
The DepEd Baguio City Schools Division Superintendent from Dalupirip, Itogon, Benguet, is on the list of Ten Most Inspiring Teachers, because her life has been tested in severe trials, her determination has given her success, her values were deepened and her endeavors provided much inspiration for others to emulate.
Verano is a daughter out of wedlock, but she has not lost sight of the hope that she will be able to get away from criticisms and judgments.
After all, she is still a child of God; blessed with three children, she retains her inspiration and influence by doing good all the time and being a model for her teams.
A proud Igorota, she became a superintendent and continues to lead, oversee and manage her division. She strongly supports Scouting for the overall development of students.
"There are millions of modern-day heroes that we forget to thank every day for their noble and selfless deeds. In these challenging and difficult times, our teachers are among the many professionals that take the extra mile to serve our communities," stated in a message signed by President Rodrigo Duterte. "May this event be an opportunity to express our gratitude to them for helping us become the upright, responsible and productive individuals that we are today," the President added.
This year's MIT theme is:
"Through our teachers we see the future of our country and through their good deeds we prosper as a nation."
The Search aims to search for inspiring and committed teachers and develop them to be more inspiring teachers who do not only teach but also guide and navigate the learners for stronger Filipino families, safer Filipino communities and a more robust Filipino nation.
The Most Inspiring Teacher awards recognize the outstanding and inspiring efforts of ordinary teachers who truly make a huge difference in the lives of their students, parents, the community and the nation as a whole.
They are judged based on their Achievements, Talents and Skills, Leadership, Contribution and Impacts.
This year's judges were: Dr Henry A. Sojor, Former Governor Grace Padaca, Prof. Nestor Tebio, MIT 2014 Maria Ellaine Adarna and Fr. Mark Anthony Vilos.
The top ten most inspiring teachers will receive a Plaque, Medal and a Travel Award in 2021.
