On August 23, the situation in Pilando, Gambang, Bakun, Benguet, became critical as the road at the sinking area, part of the Halsema Highway, suffered significant damage. The people's plea for immediate intervention was loud and clear, and the response from Benguet Vice Governor Ericson "Tagel" L. Felipe was swift.

Urgent Inspection and Immediate Recommendations

Following an urgent inspection, engineers recommended the creation of a temporary alternate route to ensure the safety and mobility of residents and vehicles. This solution was deemed essential given the severity of the damage.

Recognizing the urgency, Vice Governor Felipe immediately engaged with the landowners of adjacent properties to secure permission to use their land for the alternate route. The spirit of cooperation was evident throughout these discussions.

Support from the Kidang-Acop Clan

In an unexpected yet welcome turn of events, it was discovered that the landowners of the adjacent property, the Caticat and Vicente families, are members of the Kidang-Acop Clan, to which Vice Governor Felipe also belongs.

"Our huge thanks to the Caticat and Vicente families for allowing us to use your property para iti pagsayaatan iti umili iti Benguet ket daduma pay nga prob-probinsya," Vice Governor Felipe expressed, acknowledging their generosity. "The Lord will bless you a millionfold!"

Commencement of Temporary Alternate Route Construction

The construction of the temporary alternate road is set to begin on the morning of August 26. Equipment has already been positioned in Pilando, ready to start the work without delay. This route will provide a vital connection for vehicles and pedestrians while permanent road repairs are being planned.

"Nakasaganan ken nakapwesto ijay Pilando iti equipment iti numo ti biang nga mangisimpa and I will personally go and inspect the roadwork!" Vice Governor Felipe assured, emphasizing his commitment to overseeing the project's progress.
