Contact UsPolice Major Jonalyn B. Malnat, a proud Igorot from Tungngod, Lagawe, Ifugao, is the first Female Igorot Pilot in the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PMAJ Malnat is the Class Commander and the only woman in the Basic Helicopter Pilot Training (BHPT) Class of 2020 to have received the Leadership Award from the prestigious PNP Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) Air Unit.
The Philippine National Police Air Unit (PNP Air Unit) welcomes thirteen (13) Police Commissioned Officers who earned their PNP Aviation wings after completing their Basic Helicopter Pilot Training (BHPT) at the PNP Air Unit Hangar, General Aviation Area, Domestic Airport in Pasay City on 09 November 2021
The Ifugao lady was among the thirteen (13) Police Commissioned Officers who earned their Basic PNP Aviators Badge for completing the 228-hour course on November 08, 2021, held at the PNP Air Unit Hangar, General Aviation Area, Manila Domestic Airport, Pasay City.
Malnat, the fourth of six children of Mr. Pablo G. Malnat Sr. and Mrs. Linda B. Malnat, joined the Elite PNP Special Action Force back in 2006, becoming president of the "Matatag" class.
Joining the elite PNP unit wasn't easy, Malnat dealt with tough conditions - low morale and mixed feelings. She felt like crying, had sweat running down her body, joints hurting, and aches in most parts of her body. It was tough.
But those hardships didn't stop her, instead, they became a challenge for her to keep going. To fulfill one of her dreams in life - to become a full-fledged Policewoman. After six months in the training center, she was ranked Top 1 of the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC) Class of 2007.
To become a full-fledged "Tagaligtas", PMAJ Malnat underwent the SAF Commando Course, where she experienced more pain and hardship than what she experienced when she trained at PSBRC.
Despite being a woman, she proved her worth and completed the SAF Commando Training course. The training was very challenging, but she still managed to finish at the Number 3 spot out of 100 who underwent one of the most difficult trainings in the Philippine Police.
In 2011, she was blessed and fortunate to be included in the PNP Lateral Entry Class "PINAGPALA" where she once again proved that she was truly blessed like her class name until she became a full-fledged Police Lieutenant.
Although already a full-fledged officer, she has not stopped taking various mandatory and specialized courses in Operations, Intelligence, Investigations, and Police Community Relations with the PNP, AFP, and private institutions.
During her almost fifteen years of service, she has received countless awards, including being named SAF Best Junior Police Communications Officer (PCO) for Administration at the 37th SAF Founding Anniversary in 2020. In addition, she is also one of the winners among the Ten Outstanding APOLE Members (TOAM) 2020 at the 7th Lateral Entry Day Celebration in conjunction with the 17th Anniversary and National Convention on December 17, 2020.
PMAJ Malnat is the current Assistant Chief, Operation Branch, and Officer-in-Charge of Police Community Relations Section of the PNP Special Action Force. She is also a member of the PNP-SAF Air Unit Aviators who are in command of the PNP fleet of rotary aircraft.
