To encourage more yKalingas in joining various sports competitions, the Provincial Government of Kalinga through the Provincial Ordinance No. 2019-009 gives recognition and cash incentives to those constituents who won and brought home awards and medals from all kinds of sports held in regional, national and international level competitions.
The said ordinance was from PO No. 2005-005 "Athletes' Cash Incentives", amended by Hon. Jay Harley Duguiang, attested by then Vice Governor, now Governor James S. Edduba, and approved by then Governor, now Vice Governor Jocel C. Baac on March 5, 2019.
Hon. Danzel Michael Langkit recommended the two athletes be recognized, and this morning, they were honored by the provincial government during the flag-raising ceremony.
Jerrold Pete Mangliwan from Tabuk City was awarded a Certificate of Recognition and will receive a cash incentive amounting to 50,000php for being the Philippine National Wheelchair Racer and for winning a Gold Medal at the Men's 100 T52 WHEELCHAIR RACE, while Romeo Tayawa from Pinukpuk was awarded a Certificate of Recognition and will receive a 20,000php cash incentive for winning Bronze Medals in "Best Lift" and in the total of the Men's Up to 54KG Category of PARA POWERLIFTING COMPETITION during the 11th ASEAN PARA GAMES 2022 held at Sukrata, Indonesia.
The officialdom of Kalinga takes pride in having constituents who carry the provincial and the Philippine banner in the field of Paralympics.
