Ifugao Tong-il Moo Do team wins big in the 2023 National Championships of Tong-il Moo Do, winning the 2nd overall championship and 9 medals in the sparring and bon competitions.

The Ifugao Tong-il Moo Do team recently won big in the 2023 National Championships of Tong-il Moo Do (The Way of Unified Martial Arts), held in Cebu City. The Cordillera team, which was represented mostly by athletes from Aguinaldo, won the 2nd overall championship, with eight of its members winning medals and certificates in the sparring and bon competitions.

In the sparring competition, Layda L. Nunggatang (Monggayang) won the gold medal in the individual senior novice women's division. Shaina M. Bumaca (Monggayang) also won the gold medal in the individual junior novice women's division, while Diodi-an L. Nagchay (Jacmal) won the bronze medal in the same division. Judah Rick C. Bumalin (Damag) won the bronze medal in the individual senior novice men's division. Angeline L. Gannaban (Jacmal) finished in fourth place in the individual cadet novice women's division.

In the bon competition, Xian Dave B. Lumayna (Jacmal) won the gold medal in the individual cadet novice men's division. Shaina M. Bumaca (Monggayang) won the silver medal in the individual junior novice women's division. Erica L. Nunggatang (Monggayang) won the bronze medal in the individual cadet novice women's division. Layda L. Nunggatang (Monggayang) won another bronze medal in the individual senior novice women's division. Roger Jr. V. Burgos (Monggayang) won the bronze medal in the individual senior advance men's division.

The Ifugao Tong-il Moo Do team is coached by John Mark G. Hanipin, with assistant coaches Ivy Rose Nunggatang, Roger Jr. V. Burgos, and Vince Ngipol. The team is supported by the Ifugao Provincial Government and the Aguinaldo Lgu.

The team's success in the national championships is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the athletes and coaches. It is also a source of pride for the Ifugao community. Congratulations to the Ifugao Tong-il Moo Do team on their outstanding achievement!

To recall, athletes from Aguinaldo and Banaue bagged 13 gold medals in last year's national TIMD tilt.

In the 2022 National Championships of Tong-il Moo Do, athletes from Aguinaldo and Banaue bagged a total of 13 gold medals. This is a significant improvement from their performance in the 2021 championships, where they only won 6 gold medals.

The success of the Ifugao Tong-il Moo Do team is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the athletes, coaches, and the Ifugao community. It is also a sign that Tong-il Moo Do is growing in popularity in the Philippines.
