An inspiring story has rounded the social media about a cop who initiated the mid-year bonus challenge in the forefront of the Philippine National Police organization. He is PLT. Francis Dangiwan III, an Igorot - a native of Sadanga, Mountain Province whose heart embraces enormously the people below him, especially the underprivileged fellowmen, known and unknown to him.
Under the mid-year bonus challenge, the pure and compassionate heart of PLT. Dangiwan encouraged his troop to toss an amount from their mid-year bonus for the two neighbors with disability they met during their combat patrol in a far flung sitio of Tubong, San Fernando, Banaue, Ifugao.
The initiative was fully supported by their Force Commander PLTCol. Ayson Tenenan and applauded by their higher ups for which PLT Dangiwan was awarded the Medalya ng Ugnayang Pampulisya at Camp Dangwa on July 04, of this year.
Under the nomination from the 2nd Ifugao PMFC troop, many more events and activities were uncovered about the generosity of PLT Dangiwan. One of which is while they were returning from ISO patrol at Sitio Bunag, Butac, Aguinaldo, he immediately helped a resident in manually pounding rice, and later accompanied by the troop. According to the report, pounding rice could have been a normal activity, but not when you are physically exhausted and a PCO who has PNCO under you whom you can command.
He also brought the PNP as a whole closer to the farmers by engaging to their activity such as "Bayanihan Buras Mais", Bayanihan Bilad Mais," and "Bayanihan Buhos." He did not hesitate to have his hands be ruggedly calloused in the name of service, thereby redefining the motto of the PNP which is to serve and protect.
Some of the sincere quote coming from the 2nd Ifugao PMFC are: "Ang Oscar na matapang pero malambot ang puso." "High moral ang tropa pag kasama si Sir sa Operation." And "Sino ba ang hindi gaganahang sumunod kung opisyal na mismo ang nagumpisang gumawa?"
These appreciations coming directly from subordinates highly suggest that PLT. Dangiwan is a precious jewel to be treasured and emulated in public service.
Asked about what motivates him from his continuous legacy of helping, he struck us with this word of wisdom "For me, helping is an innate behavior for us Igorot, and more so that i belong to the PNP organization. I carry my primary mandate wherever my feet go, that is "Public Service; and To serve and protect."
