Bauko, Mountain Province - When Mary Jane Day-asen Aluyen, a grade 1 teacher at Bauko Central School, gifted her graduating students with copies of her book Bauko Through the Years, she knew she was giving them something special. But she had no idea how special it would be.
The book tells the story of Bauko, a small town in Mountain Province, from its earliest days to the present. It includes information about the town's history, culture, and traditions. Aluyen hopes that the book will help her students develop a greater appreciation for their heritage.
"I wanted to give my students something that would help them learn more about Bauko," Aluyen said. "I hope that they will enjoy reading the book and that it will inspire them to learn more about their culture."
The students were thrilled to receive the book. They said that they were excited to learn more about their hometown and that they would definitely read the book.
"I've only just received the book, but I'm really excited to read it," said one student. "I'm looking forward to learning more about my town's history."
Another student said that she was inspired by the book to learn more about her culture. "I've always been interested in our culture, but I've never really had a chance to learn much about it. This book is really helping me to understand my culture better."
Aluyen's gift of books has had a profound impact on her students. They have not only learned more about their hometown, but they have also developed a greater appreciation for their culture and heritage.
