Marion D. Tombaga, 18-year-old Igorot from Tabuk City Kalinga, has been recognized as "Exemplary and Inspiring Youth Leader of Kalinga" by the 4th Asia Pacific Luminare Awards.
Marion, a Grade 12 student of Saint Tonis College Inc, began his leadership when he joined the National Referees Commission way back in 2017 and was also called one of the Youngest referees at the age of 15.
He went to the various villages in their Province and there he saw different people's lives. And for this reason, his perspective and thoughts have changed especially about life. Leadership starts with realization, it changed the way he thinks.
He started being a volunteer, whenever someone calls to help with such activities he's never been hesitant to help. And he said Voluntary is a must because Volunteering gives you a sense of purpose.
Although it is not well understood why volunteering provides such a profound health benefit, a key factor is assumed to be that volunteering serves to express and facilitate opportunities to carry out one's sense of purpose.
The very nature of volunteering means choosing to work without being paid for it. As a result, people choose to spend their time on issues they feel strongly about.
And now, he is the President of Samahang Kabataan ng Episcopal ng Pilipinas- Holy Trinity Cathedral, Vice President of Membership- Cordillera Youth Brigade, Area Representative of Cordillera Youth Brigade - NOLCOM, Coordinator of Youth Justice Service and Environment, and Coordinator external of Hope Alight.
And also he is a member of Kalinga Ploggers and Kalinga Basura Express, an organization that helps their environment and community thru Pulot Basura/Plogging every Saturday morning.
Moreover, he helped Persons with disabilities every time he has extra savings, he bought them "Abasto pack" especially because of this pandemic. He had to do this because his brother was in the Academy(PMMA) and his elder brother also graduated from the academy(PMA).
He saw their pain and struggle each time when they visited them, as a result, he's also needed to do his best to make them proud.
