The main parks in Baguio City have been opened to the residents of the city in conjunction with the celebration of the 111th charter anniversary of the City of Pines on Tuesday.
Boating and cycling are particularly open at Burnham Park and horseback riding at Wright Park where it will take three days as a dry-run before the formal opening of city parks on Friday, September 4th.
Meanwhile, yesterday, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between local government officials of Baguio City and Region 1 or Ilocos Region for the start of tourism bubbles between Baguio City and Region 1 to be called “Ridge to Reef Tourism Bubble ”witnessed by Tourism Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.
According to Puyat, this is part of the slow, careful and safe opening of the tourism industry of Northern Luzon, specifically Baguio City, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan and La Union.
She said the provinces and cities included in the tourism bubble plan are in the modified GCQ, with low risk and contained cases of COVID-19.
However, she clarified that the health protocols that tourists must follow when going to places under the Memorandum of Understanding are still in effect.
Officials from Region 1 and Baguio City welcomed the said plan because it will revive their tourism where they can promote the beaches and other tourist spots in Region 1 and the tourist spots and the cold climate of Baguio City .
