Igorot leads PNP Special Action Force

Igorot Police Brigadier General Rudolph B Dimas has been appointed as Director of the PNP Special Action Force.

PNP Chief, Police General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr, formally installed Police Brigadier General Rudolph B Dimas as Director of the PNP Special Action Force, the national maneuver force of the PNP.

PBGen Dimas replaced outgoing SAF Commander, Police Major General Edgar Alan Okubo, who was designated as Regional Director of NCRPO.

In his valedictory, PMGen Okubo expressed gratitude to the SAF personnel for their unwavering support during his term. He also thanked the PNP leadership for the opportunity to lead the elite unit and for their trust and confidence in him.

Police Brigadier General Dimas, on the other hand, vowed to continue the legacy of his predecessor and maintain the high standards set by the SAF. He also expressed his commitment to uphold the rule of law and protect the people from all forms of threats and violence.

The Turnover of Office Ceremony was attended by PNP Chief, Police General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr., and other senior PNP officials, as well as SAF personnel and their families.

In his message, Police General Azurin Jr. thanked PMGen Okubo for successfully carrying out various missions, particularly in addressing terrorism, insurgency, and other high-risk situations. He also welcomed PBGen Dimas as the new SAF Commander and expressed his confidence in his capability to lead the elite unit.

"As we witness this transition of leadership, let us all remember that the success of the SAF is anchored on the collective effort and commitment of every member of the organization. So, let us work together, in ensuring that undeniably, the PNP SAF for its 39 years of existence - has given extraordinary and gallant service to God, country, and people guided by your motto, "By Skills and Virtue, We Triumph", PGen Azurin said.

The ceremony ended with the symbolic turnover of the SAF flag from PMGen Okubo to PBGen Dimas, signifying the transfer of command and authority.

PBGen Rudolph Botengan Dimas, a member of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class of 1992, hails from Besao, Mountain Province, and is a proud Igorot. He formerly held the position of Regional Director of Police Regional Office 5.

The SAF is the PNP's premier unit tasked with carrying out high-risk operations such as counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, and other special operations. It is composed of highly-trained and skilled police officers who undergo rigorous training and selection processes.
