17-Year-Old Baguio Math Genius Wins Gold in SEAMO 2022

Rynne Daven A. Barrios, a 17-year-old student from Baguio City, Philippines, has won the gold medal in the Southeast Asian Mathematical Olympiad (SEAMO) 2022. The competition was held online from February 14-19, 2022, and Barrios bested hundreds of participants from all over Southeast Asia.

Barrios is a grade 12 student at the University of Baguio Science High School. He has been interested in mathematics since he was a child, and he has participated in several math competitions throughout his school years. He is also a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship for Science, Mathematics, and Engineering.

The SEAMO is a prestigious math competition that is organized by the Terry Chew Academy of Singapore. The competition is designed to test students' problem-solving skills and their understanding of mathematical concepts. The problems in the SEAMO are challenging, but Barrios was able to rise to the occasion and achieve a perfect score.

Barrios's victory is a major accomplishment for the Philippines.
