Police Colonel Jonathan Calixto is a proud Igorot from Besao, Mountain Province. He is a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class of 1998 and is currently the highest ranking official of his class.
"It runs in the blood of Igorots to defend our land and freedom. We will fight until the last breath and die with honor in the name of service".
These are the words of S/Supt. Jonathan Calixto who had been promoted as a Senior Superintendent or now Police Colonel, base on the latest revision of Police Ranks of the Philippines.
He is now the highest ranking official of the Philippine National Police Academy Class of 1998 as of this writing.
Before that, Calixto who is a proud Igorot from Besao, Mountain Province was also appointed as the new head of the commander of the PNP Regional Highway Patrol Unit of Region 4-A last October 9 2018. 10 years ago, Calixto was also the youngest battalion commander of the PNP Special Action Force (SAF).
Jonathan Calixto's track records in the Police service ranges from leading anti-terrorist operation and intelligence.
His bravery and derring-do has earned him 38 awards and commendations in just over a decade of service. He has also organize nine bloodletting missions and leads a variety of other police community outreach programs, such as tree-planting and clean and green projects as well as the donation of school supplies.
He also works with the Rotary Club to help Gawad Kalinga in its housing projects.
In 2005 Calixto along with his fellow Igorot PNP-SAF leader Supt. Lambert Suerte also led the assault on the perpetrators of the Bicutan siege which resulted in the death of 22 Abu Sayyaf inmates, including Commander Robot and the recovery of seven firearms. He also spearheaded the capture of Jemaah Islamiyah's (JI) second-in-command and recovered high intelligence value items and explosives.
He also arrested Abu Sayyaf gun suppliers which effectively limited the terrorist group's capability to conduct criminal activities.
This was hailed by President Arroyo and regional leaders as a big blow to the terror network of JI operations. Calixto along with 10 police officers were conferred the coveted Country's Outstanding Policemen in Service (COPS) by the Metrobank Foundation for their contribution to the nations's peace and stability through anti-terror campaign.
Police Colonel Calixto graduated from the University of Baguio with a degree in B.S. Criminology. He took up B.S. Public Safety at the Philippine National Police Academy and Masters in Public Administration at the National College for Business and Arts.
He has also taken up advance courses in Anti-Kidnapping and Crisis Response from the Louisiana State Police Academy and French Counter-Terrorist and Israeli Anti-Training courses.
He is married to Sonia C. Calixto who is also a police officer.
