President Rodrigo Roa Duterte conferred the OWLENS awards to 10 outstanding women in the field of law enforcement and national security at the MalacaƱang Palace on March 11, 2019.
Among those awarded was CAPTAIN JOVITA G BUCLAT, a proud Igorota from the Cordilleras. She is an example of a woman who served in Marawi City. She did not mind the danger. She would even go down and accompany her team when they would pull out the armors or do repairs on the spot. She led them. This is the oath she took and her job.

CAPTAIN JOVITA G BUCLAT Marawi Seige Heroism
During the 2017 Marawi siege, she led the Forward Support Mechanized company affiliated with the Joint Task Force Marawi to provide full service and maintenance support to Armor and mechanical operating units.
Her job is to rescue not only the wounded soldiers but also the Armored vehicles that were destroyed by enemy rocket fires from the Maute group inspired by ISIS and to bring them all back to good combat operations to help the operation of troops in the Main Battle Area.
The Armored Personnel Carriers played a critical role in destroying the defense and position of the Maute group and thus their eventual defeat.
The OWLENS awardees were selected through several stages of screening and selection from nominees submitted by agencies tasked with enforcing land laws and soldiers in defense of the motherland. Project OWLENS Philippines is about women and aims to motivate and inspire women law enforcement and soldiers to excel in their chosen profession.
Another Pride of the Cordilleras! Captain Buclat, you are an inspiration to all the youth of the Cordillera, you are a symbol of women! Congratulations and may God always bless you!
