Tabuk City, Kalinga - Senator Cynthia Villar has lauded the Province of Kalinga for its outstanding achievement in setting two world records in February 2023.
During the festivities of the 4th Bodong Festival and Kalinga's 28th Founding Anniversary on February 15th this year, an impressive gathering of 8,121 gong players and banga dancers representing various municipalities united to present the captivating event known as "Awong Chi Gangsa, Agtu'n Chi Banga."
The Province of Kalinga secured two Guinness World Records for organizing the "largest gong ensemble" and executing the "largest banga dance." This extraordinary feat entailed the harmonious coordination of 3,440 gong players and 4,681 Kalinga banga dancers.
In acknowledgment of this remarkable accomplishment, Senator Villar filed P.S. Resolution No. 493 in the Senate, commending Kalinga for its international recognition and for instilling a deep sense of pride and honor within the nation.
Senator Villar further emphasized that the performance exhibited by the Kalinga people during "Awong Chi Gangsa, Agtu'n Chi Banga" not only showcased their exceptional talent but also highlighted the diverse tapestry of Filipino culture, their unwavering discipline, and the indomitable spirit that fuels their determination.
Senator Villar expressed, "The exceptional display of artistry witnessed during the 'Awong Chi Gangsa, Agtu'n Chi Banga' has not only showcased our global talent but has also underscored the deep-rooted values of Filipino culture, discipline, and the unwavering determination of our people."
