Igorot Farmer's Son Overcomes Challenges to Become PMA Cadet

Jake Pel-ey Matiw is an Igorot farmer's son who overcame challenges to become the Humility Battalion Commander of the Philippine Military Academy.

CDT 1CL Jake Pel-ey Matiw is an Igorot, a member of the indigenous peoples of the Cordillera Administrative Region of the Philippines. He grew up in a small village in the mountains of Bontoc, Mountain Province. His parents were farmers, and he and his siblings helped out with the family's land. They knew that education was the key to a better future, so they worked hard to send their children to school. Matiw excelled in school, and he was accepted to the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).

At the PMA, Matiw is currently the Humility Battalion Commander of the Cadet Corps. He is one of the few students from a rural area, and he has had to adjust to the rigorous academic and physical demands of the school. But he never gives up, and he is determined to graduate and become a soldier.

Matiw is a living example of what can be achieved through hard work and determination. He is a source of inspiration to many, and he is a role model for young people who aspire to serve their country.

In a recent interview, Matiw shared his advice for young people who want to join the military. He said, "The most important thing is to be humble. A soldier must be willing to put the needs of others before his own. He must also be willing to work hard and never give up."

Matiw also stressed the importance of faith. He said, "I believe that God has a plan for me. I offer my works to Him, and I trust that He will guide me on my journey."

Here are some additional details about Matiw:

  • His family is very proud of him, and they are supporting him in his journey to become a soldier.
  • Matiw is a role model for many young people in his community, and he inspires them to dream big and work hard.
  • Matiw is committed to helping others, and he is always willing to lend a helping hand.
  • Matiw is a devout Christian, and he believes that God has a plan for his life.
  • Matiw is a member of the BAGONG SINAG CLASS of 2024.

Matiw is a true inspiration to us all. He is a reminder that anything is possible if we are willing to work hard and never give up on our dreams.
