Tabuk City, Kalinga - The Kalinga community, as well as fans throughout the Cordillera region, are in mourning following the tragic passing of a beloved local artist, Jason 'Jhay' Blaza, aged 42, who lost his life due to injuries sustained in a road accident on Thursday, September 14, 2023.

Blaza, known as the vocalist of a local band, tragically passed away at 3:00 a.m. while receiving medical care at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC).

The artist, famous for his hit song 'Eskwelaan,' was involved in a road accident on the evening of September 10, 2023, along the National Highway in Bulanao. According to the Tabuk City police report, Blaza was traveling on his motorcycle from Block 3 towards the white carabao when the accident occurred at the Rotonda Circle. The collision resulted in severe head injuries, multiple lacerations on his face, and abrasions on his knee.

Immediately after the accident, Blaza was swiftly transported to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to CVMC, where he fought bravely for four days before succumbing to his injuries.

Jason 'Jhay' Blaza, originally hailing from Pasil, Kalinga, but a resident of Tabuk City, leaves behind four grieving children. His legacy as a talented artist who had touched the hearts of many throughout the Cordillera region will continue to shine through his music and the memories he created through his artistry.

Blaza's songs, including the beloved 'Eskwelaan,' will forever be a cherished part of the Cordillera's cultural heritage, a testament to his passion for music and his ability to connect with people through his heartfelt lyrics and soulful voice.
