Second Lieutenant (2LT) LEI VANETTE DAGACAN ALANGUI, a proud Igorot from the Applai tribe in Sagada, Mountain Province, is a registered nurse, and now a high-ranking Philippine Air Force military pilot.
Philippine Air Force Military Pilot Training (PAF MPT) "Wings of Resurgence" Class of 2019
2LT Alangui, born on February 14, 1994, is one of the successful graduates of the Philippine Air Force Military Pilot Training (PAF MPT) "Wings of Resurgence" Class of 2019.
PAF has produced 54 new breeds of pilots who have successfully completed their 17 months of training at the Philippine Air Force Flying School (PAFFS).
The Graduation Ceremony of the "Wings of Resurgence" Class 2019 was graced by LTGEN ROZZANO D BRIGUEZ AFP, Commanding General, Philippine Air Force, who served as Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker at the Aquamarine Recreational Center, Lipa City, Batangas on 20 November 2019.
The MPT "Wings of Resurgence" Class of 2019 consisting of 39 Men and 15 Women products of the Philippine Military Academy and PAF Officer Candidate School, finally wore the Aeronautical Rating Badge personally pinned by the Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force in front of their family and loved ones.
These new pilots shall be distributed to the different flying units of the PAF and will man its newest platforms that will surely contribute to the effectiveness of the interoperability of the entire Armed Forces of the Philippines with utmost excellence and dedication to the service.
Philippine Air Force Officer Candidate Course (PAF OCC) Class 2017
Before her Military Pilot Training, Alangui completed her Philippine Air Force Officer Candidate Course (PAF OCC) as a member of Class 2017. She's the first Igorot woman to graduate from the PAF OCC.
The PAF OCC Class 2017 was originally composed of eighty-three (83) courageous individuals, sixteen (16) brave women, and sixty-seven (67) fearless men coming from the different regions of the Philippine Archipelago chosen based on the needed skills of the PAF.
The Class 2017 was topped by 2LT LEONARDO G VISAYA, JR., another fellow Igorot achiever from Kalinga.
Nursing Board Examination Passer
In 2014, Alangui was also among the May 2014 Nursing Board Exam Passers.
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 11,225 out of 29,188 passed the Nurse Licensure Examination given by the Board of Nursing in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dagupan, Davao, Iloilo, Laoag, Legazpi, Lucena, Nueva Ecija, Pagadian, Pampanga, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga taken from May 25 and 26, 2014.
Beauty with Brain
Did someone say beautiful? Alangui was a former contestant of Mountain Province's most coveted Ms. Lang-ay Festival in 2014.
In the same year, she also participated in the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Central Luzon Health and Research Development Consortium where she won the poster and oral presentation on "Determination of the anti-angiogenic activity of White Angel".
What's Next?
2LT Alangui, a registered nurse, is now a certified military pilot of the elite branch of the Armed Forces of the Philippines after completing her Officer Candidate Course and Military Pilot Training Course.
