Kalinga freelance model Ghenesis Padilla-Dalayday Latugat was crowned Miss Baguio City queen and Miss Lafaayette 2021 last October 16, 2021.
Latugat is an alumna of Tabuk City National High School and completed Science Technology Engineering Mathematics from the University of the Cordilleras Senior High School with Honors and also a "Best in Performing Arts" awardee.
She is currently a 4th-year student of Saint Louis University taking up a Bachelor of Science in Architecture.
The yKalinga is also a freelance model for different products and clothing.
The 22-year-old is the daughter of Mr. Gerbacio Latugat from Guilayon, Tabuk City and Ms. Elenita Dalayday from Cudal, Tabuk City, Kalinga. The Latugats currently resides in Barangay Dominican-Mirador in the city of Pines.
In a Facebook post, the new Miss Baguio thanked all those who showed love and supported her journey.
"I am so overwhelmed with all the love and support I have received this past weeks. Thank you to each and everyone of you who believed in me. I am here today because of all the motivations, support and love that my family and friends have given me," Latugat said.
"I have been dreaming for this crown since I was 16 years old, and when I got to experience it, it was overwhelming and exciting at the same time. But now, it was better than I imagined," Latugat added while thanking all her supporters.
I know that being your queen is going to be one of the biggest responsibilities of my life. But it is a role I am ready and willing to partake. Because a true queen lives and leads by example," she ended.
Her victory as Miss Baguio truly showcased the dominating beauty of the yKalingas around the globe. The first Miss Kalinga is LTCOL Jessie Rose Bucalen-Austria crowned in 1996. The first yKalinga to be crowned Miss Baguio City is Ms. Kyna A. Bayangan in 1999.
In 2020, Noreen Victoria Mangawit also represented the Kalingas in the national pageantry as the province's first-ever representative for Miss Universe Philippines.
