MAHARLIKAN JULIUS B MAGUIWE was awarded the DANGAL NG MAHARLIKA AWARD for Maritime Security as the Coast Guard Officers' School Alumni Association Incorporated (CGOSAAI) recognized the exemplary performance of its members in various fields of endeavor in the Philippine Coast Guard in providing of service to the Filipino people.
Hundreds of alumni from different classes of the Coast Guard Officers' Course (CGOC) gathered as CGOSAAI recently held its CGOC Alumni Homecoming at the Regional Training Center Bataan last 14-15 September 2022.
CG LTJG Maguiwe of CGOC Class 21 "BRAVO" along with three others were awarded the prestigious Dangal ng Maharlika Award, the highest recognition given to a Philippine Coast Guard Officer School alumnus with outstanding achievements in their field.
MAH Maguiwe, who hails from Mankayan, Benguet with roots from Bauko and Natonin, Mountain Province, is the current Commander of CGIG North Western Luzon. Prior to his current assignment, he was the Commander of CGIG Palawan as well as the Acting Chief of the Intelligence Fusion Division of the Regional Coordinating Center of the National Coast Watch System based in Puerto Princesa, Palawan covering the West Philippine Sea and the South China Sea.
In 2010, MAH Maguiwe was a finalist of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines-Cordillera Administrative Region. He was also the first Igorot to graduate from the Officer Indoctrination School with distinction at the United States Coast Guard Academy, New London, Connecticut, USA in 2019 as reported here on Igorotage. He completed his Maritime Domain Awareness Course at the Volpe Center, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA in 2021.
The event was graced by CG ADMIRAL ARTEMIO M ABU, Commandant, Philippine Coast Guard as Keynote Speaker. CG ADM ABU was joined by CG VADM EDUARDO D FABRICANTE, Deputy Commandant for Operations; CG COMMO EUSTACIO NIMROD P ENRIQUEZ JR, Commander, Coast Guard Education, Training and Doctrine Command; CG COMMO ROBEN N DE GUZMAN, Deputy Commander, CGETDC.
Four alumni presented the awards in recognition for rendering exemplary service and delivering distinguished accomplishments in the various field of functions of PCG explicitly:
