Celebrate PMGEN Mark D. Pespes' promotion to 2-star General of the elite PNP Special Action Force, showcasing his leadership and bravery.

On September 18, 2024, a significant event took place in the Philippine National Police (PNP) Special Action Force as PMGEN Mark D. Pespes was promoted to the rank of Police Major General. The Oath-Taking and Donning of Rank Ceremony was held at the Headquarters of the Special Action Force in Fort Sto. Domingo, Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, with PGEN Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, the Chief of the PNP, officiating the ceremony.

A Milestone in Leadership

Hailing from Tadian, Mountain Province, PMGEN Pespes' promotion is not only a personal achievement but also a source of pride for the Igorot community and a reflection of the PNP's commitment to diversity. His rise to the rank of 2-star General speaks to his dedication and service in law enforcement.

On May 8, 2024, he took on the role of Acting Director of the Special Action Force, making him the 31st director of this elite unit. In this capacity, he is expected to lead with integrity and wisdom, continuing the important mission of the SAF, which is to protect and serve the Filipino people.

Words of Encouragement

During the ceremony, PGEN Marbil congratulated PMGEN Pespes, highlighting the significance of his promotion and the responsibilities that come with leading an elite unit like the SAF. He urged PMGEN Pespes to maintain his passion for service and to inspire his team to reach their full potential.

Marbil's encouragement emphasizes the high expectations for leaders in critical roles within the PNP.

Acknowledging Support

In his acceptance speech, PMGEN Pespes expressed gratitude for the support he has received throughout his career. He acknowledged the vital roles played by his senior officers, family, and friends in helping him reach this milestone. His words underscored the importance of teamwork in achieving success within the PNP.

He also reaffirmed that the Special Action Force will continue to align itself with its core mission, echoing the Chief PNP's vision: "Sa Bagong Pilipinas, ang Gusto ng Pulis, Ligtas Ka." This vision serves as a guiding principle for the SAF as it works to enhance its capabilities.

Demonstrating Courage

PMGEN Pespes' promotion follows notable achievements that demonstrate his bravery and commitment to public safety. In October 2022, he was involved in a critical incident at the PNP Custodial Center where he saved former Senator Leila De Lima from a hostage-taker. His actions during this crisis highlighted his ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritize the safety of others.

While negotiating with a detained Abu Sayyaf member holding Senator De Lima hostage, PMGEN Pespes showed remarkable courage. He provided the inmate with water, creating a moment of trust before quickly neutralizing the threat to ensure the senator's safety. This incident exemplifies his dedication to protecting lives, a quality that will guide his leadership as SAF Director.

Looking Ahead

As PMGEN Pespes steps into his new role, he is committed to leading the Special Action Force with a vision that emphasizes integrity and service. He recognizes the challenges ahead and plans to build a strong team dedicated to addressing the evolving security landscape in the Philippines.

His goal is to foster a culture of trust and collaboration within the SAF, which will be essential for enhancing the unit's operational capabilities. By prioritizing these values, PMGEN Pespes hopes to inspire his team and empower them to effectively serve the nation.

The Oath-Taking and Donning of Rank Ceremony for PMGEN Pespes marks an important moment not only for him but also for the Philippine National Police. As he takes on this leadership role, his dedication to the core values of the PNP will be crucial in facing the challenges that lie ahead.

With PMGEN Pespes in charge, there is optimism about the future of the Special Action Force and its role in ensuring national security. His leadership will aim to strengthen the capabilities of the SAF while maintaining its commitment to the community it serves, ultimately contributing to the safety and security of the Philippines.
