Allow me to introduce Demvia:
"Hello Igorot Family, I am Demvia Acosta Maslian, a Native of Kibungan/Kapangan, Benguet. I am currently a teacher at a military school here in the United States, and I am competing for the title of America's Favorite Teacher.
Initially, I thought it was not true when the application popped up on my Facebook page, and so the answers I provided for the questions were not well thought out. However, I received a text stating that voting would commence soon. My first voters were my students, and there were 100 teachers in each group for the elimination round, though we do not know how many groups were there.
The competition progressed through various stages: top 20, top 15, top 10, top 5, and finally, top 1 for each group, which qualified me as a quarter-finalist. I would not have attained the top 1 position without the unwavering support of my current students, former students, parents, friends, and families. During the top 1 competition, I almost gave up because the top 1 at that time was a professor at Columbia University who is a YouTuber with millions of views. However, a parent donated enough votes to put me as the top 1, and it became a battle between the top 1 and top 2 positions with the Columbia professor.
Once again, a TikToker with millions of views is leading our group. Undeterred, I turn to my Igorot heritage for strength. The core value of "Binadang" (unity/cooperation) and the resilience of the Igorot people in overcoming challenges fuel my determination. I will not give up in this competition. Three rounds remain: quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals. We are currently in the quarterfinals phase, and I humbly ask for your vote and support. Together, we can prevail through unity and perseverance, embodying the spirit of our ancestors.
